Give  Us  A  Clue

Waipahihi School Production 2014

This year Waipahihi School put on a school production called "Give Us A Clue".   It was a story about a group of students playing a game of charades after sneaking out of their tents at night during a school camp.  Each class performed an item which was linked to the story as part of the charade game.

Room 3 and our buddies from Room 15 used the story by Maurice Sendak called 'Where The Wild Things Are' for their class item.  The students discussed and decided on four different groups of creatures to have in their item.  Each group had to create masks, choose two songs and compose their own dance moves.  With only guidance from me, their teacher, they created an amazing, entertaining (and a bit scary) performance.  Please watch and leave a comment.

You will be able to order a DVD disk or a FLASH DRIVE of the full performance, including our item, from the school office from Monday 10th November.  The flash drive will also contain photos.

Our Masks...
Each student created a template for their mask.
Goal: to use simple facial features which could easily be seen from a distance
Signs Of Success:  my mask looks similar to my template

Making our masks...
Each student created their own mask using chicken wire, paper mache and cardboard.
We helped our buddies from Room 15 to create their balloon masks.
Goal: to create 3-d features on my masks / to be true to my template and be strong / work co-cooperatively with a buddy
Signs Of Success:  my mask will cover my face / my mask will have a hole for me to look through / my mask will look like my template / my mask will be strong / I will be helpful to others

Finished Masks...
The masks took a very long time to make but we finished them just in time for the production.  They looked amazing!
