Cultural Clay Masks

After having so much fun making African masks, and learning how to work with clay, we decided to research our own country and create another clay mask.  Can you guess which country each mask is from.  Leave us a comment telling us what you think.  We will tell you if you are right.

Paint down our drain

Our classroom sink

Our classroom sink
We were cleaning our paint trays and paint brushes in our classroom sink.  Paint was going down our drains and to the Waste-water Treatment Plant. Barry, our guide at the Waste-water Treatment Plant, told us that removing paint from waste-water is expensive and uses a lot of energy. Barry also told us it is better to send paint waste to the landfill rather than putting it down the drain
Mrs Griffin told us that she and lots of other teachers do this.  They have been doing it for many years.
This is not good, we need to do something about this!

The Problem:
How can we lessen the amount of paint going down our drains?

Groups researched different ideas and then decided on the best solution to this problem.

We made advertising videos to persuade teachers and students to change their ways.

Water Cycle Displays

We created display boards to show what we learnt about the water cycle.
