Our classroom sink
We were cleaning our paint trays and paint brushes
in our classroom sink. Paint was going down our drains and to
the Waste-water Treatment Plant. Barry, our guide at
the Waste-water Treatment Plant, told us that removing paint
from waste-water is expensive and uses a lot of energy. Barry
also told us it is better to send paint waste to the landfill rather than putting
it down the drain
Mrs Griffin told us that she and lots of other teachers do this. They have been doing it for many years.
This is not good, we need to do something about this!

The Problem:
How can we lessen the amount of paint going down our drains?
Groups researched different ideas and then decided on the best solution to this problem.
We made advertising videos to persuade teachers and students to change their ways.
